I think I bought in Nov/Dec '95. Then Kurlak downgraded in January, and I sat with a loss for quite a while.

I bought about 50 months ago. quote.yahoo.com That would put it about Oct/Nov '95. I bought a previous lot a few months earlier for the same price. I, too, remember being painfully underwater for a few months and wondering if all the "Intel's lost its edge on AMD" naysayers were actually right. That experience is why I confidently dismiss them now. Been there, done that.

My CSCO story's even better. I bought my first shares about a week before the Great Meltdown of Spring '97. quote.yahoo.com Doubled up with trepidation about half-way down the left side of that canyon. It doesn't look like much of a decline now, but I believe that it was in the 30-40% range. For a while my portfolio was emitting a Giant Sucking Sound... Now I'm up over 600%.
