Here is a link to some info on Radio Freq. direct conversion problems and techniques. For the technically inclined reader. However, ADI got some good PR ---

elecdesign.com

Near the bottom of the article:

Analog Devices Inc., with its Othello chip set, is the only company with a direct-conversion offering for GSM on the open market. Its realization is a result of good frequency planning, the avoidance of VCOs or multiples to overlap the RF, high-resolution ADCs, and symmetrical design

Dawg: Nice pick on TXN. IHMO, they will outstrip ADI over the next few years due to their involvement with cell phone technologies. ADI DSP?s are essentially nonexistent in this exploding growth area. Cell phone subscribers are expected to top 1B by 2003.
