About unloading Q stock and calls...

Everyone MUST do what makes them most comfortable. But...

It is very important to set targets when entering short term positions and NOT let momentary downtrends or emotions sway your investments decisions. The question you want to ask yourself is why didn't you sell these positions when you were ahead must more than today? (Please don't take this personally as these are just general questions).

Was is greed?
Lack of discipline?
Or that you had a target of much higher based on your perceptions?

If it was greed or lack of discipline, get out NOW. Learn from your mistake and either FORGET doing these short term trades or try again later with a new WRITTEN DOWN strategy.

If you had a higher target, what was it based on? NOTHING has changed fundamentally. In fact things have become better. With Friday's CPI and Intel's earnings the market is NOT going to TANK unless we have some fundamental crisis like a war or something horrible.

Next week should be weird like pre expiration weeks are. I wouldn't be surprised to see anything. BUT we have earnings the next week and it is several weeks before Feb. expiration.

I am holding a few Feb. calls for gambling purposes and EXPECTED to lose the money I put on the table if the market didn't react to earnings like I thought they would. With that mind set, market moves last week and this week are not important to me. Earnings are my target and I will sell the options a day or two after earnings are released regardless. That prevents EMOTION from entering and clouding my judgement. Since NO one can predict where the market is going, you must have an unemotional strategy when dealing with short term bets.

Good Luck

Rick
