Wal Mart's Asda, ebookers.com In Internet Pact (see bold)
January 14, 2000

LONDON -- ebookers.com (EBKR), the online travel agency listed on Germany's Neuer Markt and Nasdaq, Friday said it is to become the flight booking partner of Valuemad.com, Asda Group PLC's(U.AGP) website.

Asda is U.S. retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc's (WMT) subsidiary in the U.K.

Under the agreement, Valuemad.com will use ebookers.com's booking technology, and ebookers.com will pay Asda a commission for each flight booked on its website.

Dinesh Dhamija, ebookers.com chief executive, said in a telephone interview that ebookers.com will be looking at striking similar partnerships across Europe, with retailers whose websites are busy.

Dhamija played down market speculation that ebookers may seek to raise cash via a secondary listing in London.

"It is premature at the moment and we still have a lot of cash to fund our acquisitions," he said.
