I've talked to a few Call writers who don't believe any buyout rumors. Problem is the implied volitility of CS is not all that high so the lofty premiums for way out of the money ("safe") calls is just not there. The only way to write a decent call on CS is to risk getting it called away. For my money, I'd rather SELL puts and use the money to BUY calls.

If you wanted to play a gutsy move you could play a debit spread on CS CALLS. I see no point in playing a credit spread on the CS PUTS, not needed. If there is no buyout, I may play a debit spread on the CALLS once I see the stock peak.
