It sounds to me like you are employing a ego defense mechanisms to help you organize external reality on the basis of whether the experiences are pleasurably good or painfully bad with these two types of experiences being split or kept apart in psychic life. It is thus a mechanism of defense frequently employed against ambivalent feelings toward a person or experience. Splitting is thought to be the predominant mechanism of defense in psychopathologies reflecting the earliest developmental arrest, such as schizophrenia or the borderline disorders.
