After working with AirTouch and G* the last few days, the so-called soft rollout is making a little more sense. There is no question that there is a big learning curve for everyone involved. My sense is that they started extensive customer care training in late fall and perhaps the same goes for the sales force. The folks you deal with are well trained but it is very clear that this is all new to them. Perhaps they are doing a little overkill in trying to avoid the Iridium mess where very few people knew anything. Maybe they are being to careful but I guess if I was an SP, I would go along way to avoid complaints and that is exactly what they are doing at least here in the US. This is consistent with what Dan (head of G* mrktg for AirT) told me last September. He also felt very confident that they would grow and grow. I think the splash with 55 mil war chest will occur in late Feb and then I think we will ses some fireworks. But the real fireworks are going to occur elsewhere as we all know and most of those markets other than Brazil are yet to really come on line. It is going to be an interesting 6 mos. I think the growth in MOU's will be substantially greater in the 2nd half of the year. Keep the faith. The technology works!
