The point that I have been trying to make (for the last 24 months or so), is that after you put a large cache on a processor and run the frequency up, there is very little to distinguish the performance of one processor from another.

For single threaded applications, Willamette will not be much better than PIII or K7. Having said that, we will have to see what Intel has provided in the way of hardware acceleration for multi-threading.
