Here is the correct math and mercury research is on target.

AMD Q3'99 uP total units = 4.5M (4.3M K6 & 0.2M K7),AMD market share = ~12.5%

Total Q3'99 uP units = 4.5M/12.5% =36 M units

Q4'99 AMD units = 6.2-6.5M (5.2-5.5M K6 & 1.0M -K7, these are my estimates)
Mercury AMD market share estimate = 17%
Total Q4'99 uP units = 6.5M/17% = 38M units

So there is no error.
