Lots of large and small companies are testing out Linux servers like VA-linux's....."There are some things that we think are missing from Linux that are important in production environments," said Jim Thannum, corporate director of technology for FDX, the parent of Federal Express. "A couple of them are journaling file systems and scalability. We see it emerging." The company is testing 10 to 15 Linux servers for intranet applications, and it hopes to begin evaluating Linux for production systems by midyear.
