Always appreciate --and most of the time agree with-- your humoristic cynicism.... Regarding Putin's peremptory utterances, I also believe we shouldn't take them at face value --after all, the guy is running his presidential campaign of a lifetime! Hence, we shouldn't expect campaigning Russian leaders to do politics the same way your local guv'nor would.... In today's Russia, if both Pat Buchanan and Mayor Rudolf Giuliani were Russian politicos then I guess the former would look like a softie liberal whereas the latter would be branded as a wimpish socialist.....
