True to a point, but in those days, I think people just went with the flow and did what society expected of them. They were not, for the most part, independent thinkers...more of a follow the herd approach to life. I would rather be part of this generation myself.

MrGreenJeans,

I am currently reading Tom Brokaw's book, "The Greatest Generation," about the World War II generation and their coming of age in during the period. Talk about a generation that took responsibility and talk about ordinary people who did heroic things. Now that was a generation that took responsibility. They offered NO EXCUSES.

A gentleman who has been a mentor to me over the years was in the Marines during WWII. He was one of the first on shore after the bomb in Japan. I have listened intently for hours over the years to his stories about family, war, business, etc.

He has also helped me through some tough times. His general advice is simple yet profound.

#1 Always think. Really think about your options.
#2 Be tough (not in the macho sense but mentally), don't let the
SOB's alter your focus.

BTW, I am reading Brokaw's second book on The Greatest Generation. The letters in the book are gut wrenching at times. So many people lost fathers. What an incredible group of people who survived severe adversity.
