Mad2,

I have honestly been aware of pleconaril for over a year and it, like Agouron's drug, have been discussed here before. The Agouron publicity team had a blitz a short while back that was similar. It made the national news and was essentially a PR campaign to get more exposure and to get some volunteers for their studies. I posted rapidly because I am familiar with the drugs around and because I happened to notice a bunch of people posting about it here and on Yahoo.

Perhaps I should have posted to John; sorry to jump on you personally. I do think that VPHM's drug has a place - probably more than Agouron's will ultimately, but it will be in treating other picornavirus infections generically (viral diarrhea and meningitis most prominently).
