This is indeed interesting!

One thing I wonder about - since they uplink wireless,
isn't this susceptible to hacker jamming? If they serve
such a wide area, even with highly directive antennas to
illuminate the continents, couldn't some idiot hackers
jam a whole contenent's worth of service from anywhere??

Maybe I'm a bit parano, but it's one serious concern.
You can't broadly jam terrestrial cellular wireless,
and you'd be tracked down swiftly.

I'll e-mail them and will let folks know anything
I find out. I do have some communications background:
around 1980 I was one of the first to have a home C-band
satellite TV system, which I constructed myself (LNA,
a variety of threshold extension demodulators, etc.)
Those were the days, all simple analog and no encryption whatsoever!
