Trust is no more than an estimate of reliability concerning people. Just as I have contingency plans should my car not start, although I generally consider it reliable, so I would qualify my trust of various individuals, depending upon what is at stake and how well I know them. But think of all of the instances that we put our lives in someone else's hands, as when we take a common carrier, such as an airplane, or submit ourselves to major surgery. And sometimes, we do it because we have no choice......
