NY Times market update on Asia for Monday:

"Singapore's key share index was down over two percent in late afternoon trade as many funds eager for a slice of the surging action in neighboring Malaysia shifted funds away from the city state.

''If you look at the market today, the selling done is mostly in blue chip stocks. I hear several big funds are re-looking Singapore and putting their money in laggard markets like Malaysia,'' said one dealer.

The Kuala Lumpur composite index was up over four percent at 971.13. Analysts said the local market, which has soared by some 20 percent this year, was reacting belatedly to a regional rally that began in late 1999.
