I expect the network to masquerade itself as a conventional storefront,
at least for most mass market products. I mean, I never really
squeeze the Charmin. I just buy it. If that means selecting it
from a menu while I'm waiting for my matzo ball soup to arrive
and having it delivered or maybe picking it up somewhere in the
afternoon, then however many stores used to be involved just
became 1 deli and 1 distribution center. Any store which must
have a physical presence can play the same role as the deli.

For example, why should you ever go to Pep-Boys again if you
can do all your auto e-tailing at the tire store while you're
sitting there waiting for the tires to be mounted? Again, having
it delivered or coming back tomorrow to pick the stuff up is
hardly an inconvenience considering you just saved an hour of
dead time during which you used to just curse at the poor guy
behind the counter. E-consolidation.

This is not to say that all businesses will change. But retail
will, and so will any business which knowingly or unknowingly
depends on the traditional habits which people have developed.
This means traffic patterns, visual cues, store hours ... all
these things are up in the air, and along with them the viability
of some restaurants, theaters, gas stations, fast food, and yes
poorly positioned real estate developers.

well, you've gathered that I'm a believer so you may want
to discount my views accordingly.
