Bull; Forbes had a piece on Duke Energy's Vertical Integration quest...

We've seen just he begining Vertical Integration - with all of the JV's, or acquisitions by Nat Gas/Utiliities - a few quickly come to mind; RRC a new JV with FirstEnergy, even little PGEI had an investment from III, ONEOK has some JV's with E&P's - this is a large growing trend. They'll control everything from the point of exploration & production to lighting the flame on the stove in your home...

Buffet wasn't stupid moving into Utilities here... NG is a great LT story.

I looked at Hanover compressor a year ago and thought what a great little LT company for this story - lots of ways to play this. Analysts are still looking for $2.50 NG over the next two years - companies like BR NBL EOG are incredible values here - NBL has been tic's away from a 5 year low of late !

Tallking about Utilities; a company I mentioned a long time ago was Suez Lyonnaise:

adetocqueville.com

- I don't follow it now; but they are huge in European & Intnl Water & Waste and Utilities and are moving into the US market - some analyst a year ago; said this was the most intriguing longterm upside play he has seen in years - I may be wrong here, trying to remember; but they will control something like 65% of the "water & waste" in some Intnl markets. Could make an interesting small addition to longterm portfolio's.

An arguement can be made that "water" will be more valuable than Oil in the next millenium...

Big Bull, The Midland Reporter Telegram has a large article on the NG industry today too that cites from a National Petroleum Council article. The sums to be spent chasing NG are staggering- the NPC predicts that the NG industry will have to spend $1.5 trillion US dollars through 2015 to meet demand and put in storage and pipeline capacity in North America- 700 b in operating expenses and 781 b in capital expenditures... or 46 b annually
