OT Hi Scumbria,

RE: "They are now up 140%"

That's great. I am very happy for you, but please be careful with short-term options. When I buy options, I tend to lean towards leaps because I can hold them for a year without too much maintenance, and find time to reshuffle if the market changes. If I were you, I'd lighten up on the AMD, take the base out, and leave only a part of the gain. It sounds like you made such a large appreciation you could probably do this. I did this with Yahoo about a year and a half ago, and it enabled me to have a "free ride" up (and down, and up).

Scumbria, I purchased some AMD options on January 5. They are now up 140% in 8 trading days. I anticipate similar gains in the next
week. That is hot enough for me!

It's all risk/reward, to me. You picked the higher risk one and made out. Congratulations. a lot of us don't want that much risk. Some thought Cyrix was going to be the one to clean up behind Intel. Actually, if they held their NSM stock after the buyout, they might have broke even or made some money, depending on when they bought.

You almost could have thrown a dart at the semiconductor stocks section in the SJ Mercury News a year ago, bought what it hit, and cleaned up. It won't be so easy when the current chip boom peters out (if it does). FYI, the one that rides out the down cycles in semis is Intel.
