I think your refering to SiGe (Silicon Germanium). RFMD has licensed from IBM their SiGe process.

Basically, SiGe has comparable analog properties to GaAs but without thermal limitations. Because GaAs is a poor thermal conductor the amount of integration on a single chip is constrained. With SiGe future devices will be able to integrate the digital and analog circuits on the same chip.

I'm thinking the wireless data would be the next big app.
