For those long COVD:

I recently got Mindspring ADSL (Mindspring uses COVD out west + in the midwest and BellSouth in the South).

I cancelled my second line and BellSouth broke my DSL connection, so during one of my many conversations with the Mindspring reps, I asked them how COVD was doing as a provider and compare/contrast to BellSouth.

To summarize: they've been having some pretty serious problems rolling out in COVD territory. In fact, they had to suspend rollouts until certain quality issues were resolved (not sure what these issues were, but the suspension was announced on their web site). I think the majority of these issues have been resolved, but I got the distinct impression that COVD was generating more support issues than BellSouth.

He also mentioned that the COVD PPPoE software had more potential than BellSouth's (although I view PPPoE as an evil that must be tolerated in order to get ADSL).

BTW, BellSouth is no panacea. I was down over the last 70 hours due to their inability to correctly cancel a 2nd line. When it does work, its great though. 1.45 Mbps is very nice.
