I would classify Amazon as a retail company, but AOL as a media company. While neither is a tech company in the strict sense, as a media company AOL has more profit potential from the technological convergence of cable, wireless, and high speed copper. Amazon, OTOH, well, let's just say they'd better sell a whole lot of books.

And what is qualcomm? I think it is a combination telecomm chip manufacturer and IPR royalty play. I don't think the street fully understands this yet.
