Some companies "do a poll" and make changes based on the results of said poll. After all market research drives every aspect of business today.

The fact that ABX is looking to run the company's hedge program based on polls does not impress me that they are in control of their own ship. Now if an independent company like a CCL, AC, or Flour-Daniel etc was doing the polling, then the arms length of this action could lend some sense to the whole "management by polls" idea.

The fact that they are going to say, "we are (or are not) going to change our hedging program based on a poll that we did is unscientific and subject to interpretation which will serve ABX's own ends.

If I were an ABX shareholder, I would be looking for some transparency right about now.
