hey ed,

"if the program is working well then I disregard upgrades"

i know what you mean. unfortunately, more and more companies are going to a six month shelf life for support on software that's been discontinued. i know that symantec has this policy. from the date of release of a new version or upgrade, they'll provide tech support for six more months. then you're kinda' on your own. one can understand why they put that reg in place, but it conflicts with the general plan you've just described, doesn't it?

also, some things work fine (say like ie4.0) but 5.0 comes along and is an improvement that just adds to the overall net experience, so you upgrade. it's tough not to fall into the upgrade spiral <g3>.

:)

Re: "Thats why I uninstalled IE 5.01 and reinstalled plain old 5.0."

Oh no, and I just installed 5.01! I haven't noticed any problems yet, but I've only been using it a couple of days. What did you find?

Thanks,
