According to this PC Week Taiwan report , Athlon 500 Mhz has been in serious shortage in Taiwan. Since Athlon 500 Mhz is the cheapest Athlon processor one can get, it has become the most popular Athlon processor in Taiwan. However, since AMD's market world-wide market strategy places more emphasis on sales in US and Europe, the Taiwanese market has not been able to get enough supply of Athlon 500 Mhz. The problem will hopefully be overcome with the Athlon price-cut by Jan 24, when the 550 Mhz will become more affordable as the 500 Mhz is being phased out.

Goutama, that's funny about a shortage of 500 Athlons....the Taiwanese know good value when they see it.

BTW is the price cut for the US as well...I am getting ready to order my 550 MHz but I will wait a week if their is a price reduction in the offing.

Gee, maybe Taiwan will get P.O.'d at AMD and announce they are going to support Intel processors! ;-)

I'll bet all those MotherBoard manufacturers that supported the AThWIPER are REALLY PLEASED now !

Their MotherBoards sit there EMPTY - while AMD diverts their production to Gateway !

What goes around, COMES AROOUND !
