I agree, Doug - but do you *really* think someone will
pay - whether in stock or in cash - $20B or so for EBAY?
You must be joking. Any company that could buy EBAY has
a PE significantly lower than EBAY - so for any company
such a deal would be terribly dilutive and the market would
punish the company.

Please excuse my interruption, but I wonder how often this sort of thing happens? I know the person below very well, and can confirm this happened exactly as he says it did. Any suggestions on how to contact a real person, and get something like this resolved? I am registered to sell on eBAY, but haven't, yet - and I could have the same problem. ~Owl

>>I had 30+ auctions going on this week on ebay. Last night I had 3 items for sale (auction) with no reserve. Everything was running fine yesterday morning(1/16/00), then yesterday afternoon, I logged on to check the status of my auctions... nothing... my auctions no longer exist....Delving further I am told I must resolve my outstanding conflicts before I will be reinstated. Huh? Repeated attempts to reach ebay resulted in , at best, automated responses... thank you for contacting us with your problem.. etc... In the meantime, I'm out of business. Finally this morning I get a message from "Safe Harbor" saying they see no reason my access should be denied and suggest maybe I can't remember my password. I'm out almost $400 from last night alone. I've gone from being distraught to being mad as hell. Still absolutely no response as to why I am being blocked, and 2 weeks work to photograph, scan, catalog, create a web site so my images can be retrieved, and listing these items are for nothing. I believe someone has hacked their way into the system and done this to me for fun. But why? and Whom? Is ebay's security that easily breached???? Any reply or info would be greatly appreciated.

Yours Sincerely

David Morrison dadomax@mindspring.com<<

Doug, excellent observations. The single most positive event that will increase shareholder value is the resignation of Meg......We need a leader and an innovator before the lead is permanently blown....

Meg, you listening?

Doug,

CMGI just bought UBID. I think you can cross them off your list of potential buyers for fleabay.

Fleabay might be bought out like you said, but it will be at a SIGNIFICANT discount to current market cap.

UBID was bought for $400 mil. Why would anyone want to pay $20 billion for fleabay, when they can build their own auction site for SIGNIFICANTLY less, as Amazon and Yahoo have proven.
