downloaded data is saved to hard disk - the CD rom contains historical data, it is required for scans that go back more than 120 days or so

I dont back it up, you can always rebuild using the CD rom, maybe others have a different idea

yes, approximately quarterly, at which time you hard disk data is
rebuilt, thus effectively capping the total amount of HD space you will need (though I have no idea what that cap might be)

The current CD is Build 067-1008, Expires 06-14-2000.
Worden will send you a new CD at end of May.
