Bruno,

Re Crusoe Chip.

I liked the article. Reasonably well written with a stab at who the potential competition is.

The S.I AMD thread dismisses the Crusoe threat. Here is a post from a knowledgeable poster

If you read up on INTC and AMD threads there is plenty of cold water poured on the Crusoe Chip entry into the market.

That's the CPU side of the story.

Now, what about the threat to the NSM Geode processor? The Geode processor design has many functions on it besides the CPU. The reason why it is a compelling solution to the Information Appliance market is that practically all the functions are performed on a single chip (plus companion chip). NSM is marketing the "complete solution" to the Information Appliance. i.e. if you do need any other chips to complete your I/A design, NSM can sell you the complete package.
A hard deal to compete with unless you have a complete solution on a single chip as well.

Analog companies are raking in plenty of revenue for every CPU sold
by INTC and AMD, as per all the other components in PC's, I/A's etc.

If Crusoe does show promise in the IA/Thin Client market, I'm sure BND will be amongst the leaders with a design using it.

(all IMHO of course)

Pearly.
