You can trade options in an IRA by selling covered call's and you have to fill out the required forms in order to do this. I know of no other option trading available in an IRA though. I do not believe an IRA to be marginable, not been able to do it in my IRA account.

I think you are right with respect to the rules, and I know you are right with respect to MY IRA's - because I never applied for margin in those accounts (got some IRA's all over the place - Fidelity, E*Trade, Vanguard, a couple of small outfits, etc., etc.
