u mean your FORMER friend IBM? <g> check the growth rates ct. ibm is SHRINKING and msft is growing. plot that out over time.

i judge efficiency by PROFIT MARGINS? how do u judge it.By which CEO u LIKE better? let me know if you have found a better way.

and yes, i love it that msft makes money on java and suncom does not. that PLEASES me.

As I recall, the biggest software company in the world is IBM.
MSFT surpassed IBM in software revenue about a year ago... they are the biggest.

I don't know about efficiency, many smaller companies are very efficient in terms of revenue (or profit) per employee, something about focus and dedication...

One metric which had almost disappeared from the business, but is beginning to get back into play, is which is the most FUN to work at... MSFT clearly not in the running for that trophy.
