<Don't quit your job tomorrow thinking you can get rich on eBay.>

Right before xmas, I was talking to a fellow US Postal Service customer waiting for the open. He was mailing packages to his ebay customers. I asked him if that was a full-time job. "Oh, no!" he exclaimed. "I make most of my money day trading." <g>

Keep records.

The Internal Revenue Service is starting to keep an eye on auction-site sales, so the days of shirking on this money might
soon be over. You need to keep track of all your costs, including mileage, magazines you read and postage, so you can
deduct these from income.

I am being picky here but one has already broken tax law by buying merchandise and then reslling it on Ebay if they do not have a business license. I am nto referring to selling some old collectible in one's house. It is a require Federal and in most States a State law that one have a resale license in the state in which they do business and an EIN registered with the Federal government.
