Bad Nus - Re: "what do you thing accounts for the somewhat stagnating earnings at intel over the last year? "

Intel earned $ 8.098 BILLION in 1999 and "only" $ 6.289 in 1998 - so how do you describe that as STAGNATING INCOME ?

Looks like a 29% EARNINGS INCREASE - Year over Year - to me !

Oh - another DETAIL that you simpleton AMDroids KEEP NEGLECTING ! - Intel paid Uncle Sam $3.914 BILLION in TAXES in 1999 and $3.069 in 1998 - so nearly an additional $BILLION of profit went to TAXES !

AMD - being a FINACIAL LOSER - doesn't PAY TAXES ! In fact, AMD is essentially taking Corporate WELFARE from Intel !

One other item - I'd say a competitor who is waging a price war -taking on about $500,000,000 in LOSSES during the past year - may be another part of "the answer" !
