Rock to acquire Coiron project mineral titles

Mon 17 Jan 2000 News Release
Mr. Thomas Kennedy reports
Rock Resources has entered into an agreement which provides that until June
6, 2000, Rock Resources has the exclusive right to acquire mineral titles
covering seven square kilometres bordering the north and eastern boundaries
of Rock's 33-square-kilometre Coiron project in Chile. More specifically,
the claim blocks are known as the Quilo 1-40, Los Insoportables 1-60 and
Melisa.
Further to the news release in Stockwatch Nov. 17, 1999, Rock's geological
team attended the Chilean property in late November, 1999. Upon a detailed
review of the project, John Kowalchuk (vice-president of exploration) is of
the view that the size of the hydrothermal system is larger than indicated
by the Mount Tacho breccia. He commented that the total area of fracturing,
alteration and mineralization covers much of the property from Cerro Carmen
to the southern gold zone and that Cerro Carmen and Cerro Macote form a
porphyry deposit in their own right, containing significant oxide copper
mineralization in a silicified core and surrounded by a large pyrite halo
which is a viable target itself. The rocks between Cerro Carmen and the
Mount Tacho hydrothermal event are fractured and altered with signs of
pyrite and copper mineralization. On the steep approach to Mount Tacho, the
volcanic rocks contain up to 10 per cent pyrite mineralization forming a
broad pyrite halo around the Mount Tacho hydrothermal event.
Rock's four-man geological team headed by Mr. Kowalchuk and Chris Sampson
returned to the Coiron project in Chile last week. The geological team is
currently completing and supervising all necessary geological work and site
preparation to enable the drilling contractor to mobilize onto the
property. Further to the news release in Stockwatch, Nov. 17, 1999, all of
the drill contract bids were received by Rock. The drill contract will be
awarded this week, news of which will be released by Jan. 21, 2000. Rock's
geological team will remain on the property through to the completion of
the drill program.
Copper price
During the past 60 days, four major international mining companies have
requested site visits which Rock is attempting to schedule over the next
three weeks. The company believes the timing of the requests is in part,
because of the strengthening world copper prices. Copper prices have
increased by approximately 40 per cent to 86 U.S. cents per pound over the
past six months because of the improving Asian economies and the continued
strength in the North American economy. Analysts for senior brokerage firms
are predicting a continuing rise in copper prices and expect that copper
should reach $1.05 (U.S.) per pound in 2001.
Summary
The Millennium Discovery drill program will be commencing shortly to test
Rock's belief that the Coiron property could host a world-class gold-rich
porphyry copper deposit.
