I believe you are talking about the exception rather than the rule... Malachi spoke of the "storehouses" overflowing.. those are physical possesion not just spiritual. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. God is talking about bringing in 10% of Physical wealth and promising to bless with the same. Fruits of the ground etc. Storehouses refer to "barns" of sorts. Even John desired to see the saints blessed financially: John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Here there are 3 Blessings mentioned 1 Spiritual 2 Health 3 Wealth It is not wrong for Christians to be Blessed nor to expect God to Bless: Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Now God is our Father.. it is a father job to Provide and to Bless... Is not our Father a Good Father: Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. It does say "need" not "greed" however and I know that God, in love, will not feed our greed. I also admit exception..men who were greater than we in the faith who suffered want... Hebrews 11:36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. === Of whom the World was not WORTHY === Look at what Paul states concerning the wealth of this world.. Phil 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. When Paul said I can do all things he was referring to being content: 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. I do not suggest that men ever GIVE JUST TO GET but God has promised to Bless the Cheerful giver and those who are faithful in the tithe. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. I gladly give my 10% because it is a testimony of God's Faithful Provision to me and my family.
