Scott, thanks, I appreciate the input. As simplistic as that soliton description was (which, as a primer was only appropriate), I believe it went a long way to introduce the fundamentals. These brief discussions over the course of the past couple of days has prompted me to do some more digging when I get some time. I'll post any good pubs, texts or web site references as I come across them, as well.
