male jail inmates tend to have much higher levels of testosterone
It's not testosterone, it's the inhibitor.

This is off topic, but so is the whole thread. Why aren't you people calling each other on your cell phones?

OT OT> The study I referred to was in a journal of Sociobiology a few years back and I can't remember all of the details. But it did not assert that higher levels of testosterone in males led to higher math achievement, rather only for females. I would be interested in a study showing unusually low levels of testosterone in high math ability males. I was responding to Maurice's position (which he posited perhaps in jest) that earlier teaching in girls would raise their level of math achievement to that of boys.
It does not surprise me in the least that there are high levels of testosterone in prison inmates. Testosterone is associated with higher levels of competition and aggression. If properly channeled, maybe you get high achievement. If let run wild, maybe you wind up in jail. Male gorilla's have high levels of testosterone but aren't too sharp in math.

I didn't get the point of your post as it related to what Maurice had stated.

Respectfully,

Craig
