disagree - two mil gets a family with kids nowhere

Most of us come from a low enough income background that a 20% return on 2 mil, or 200K a year, would allow us to support our family's quite well.

Of course, none of us on this board who are retiring have small children, so the point is moot.

(However, our grown children are costing us a fortune!)

None of those guys think like I do!

and you can draw what you need as they return 20%+ per year

If they only returned 20% a year, in this market, I would fire them!

The point is, Peter, the people on this board who are retiring made their money by doing things that the "World Class management firms" would be horrified at, and we are not about to turn our money over to anyone to manage.
