I'm almost done building a BP6 system myself. The MB was $135, the celeron 400's were $55 each (retail with fans) and I picked up two 8.4 gig HD's (5400) for $45 each. Plus the LS-120 drive I kept for myself.

I'm going to make it dual boot NT/Linux and add it to my home network. NT will be on one disk, Red Hat linux on the other. This will be my fun (means experimental) machine where I program on as well. Hooked up to my network it'll go out to the internet through my cable modem.

I've been very lucky over the last 6 months or so and have slowly picked up parts at dirt cheap prices. I keep old systems and just hook them all up to my network.

I also redid my Linux system into a Win98 system for my daughter. I believe in purchasing my software and the machine it replaced had W95 with W98 upgrade. I decided to just install my W98 full onto the new one and keep the W95 and W98 disks with it in case the Microsoft police ever show up <grin>. My old one's going to be a linux machine as well. At least linux is free.

>>Wily, I just built a dual processor Abit BP6 with two Celery 400's. $150 for the board, $70 for each CPU<<

Dual processors make a lot of sense to me (more is better). Especially with the super-cheap BP6 and Celerons. I think when Win2000 comes out they will fly off the shelves.

If I go the BP6 route though, it'll definitely be with the overclocked 366's@550. Love that speed.

The overclocked Athlon 500's also seem like quite the deal now. But I really really want a dual board.

>>except all my windows operating systems are upgrades, not new installs. What a pain. Disk copying never seems to work well for me, and I end up having to go back to load DOS 6.0 then Windows 3.1 then Windows 98, then Windows NT, etc.<<

I thought there was a way to get a fresh install from an upgrade CD?? Never tried it since I always buy the original install version... I think jw knows that trick.
