Haqi... I feel as strongly about keeping the 4th commandment as I do about the 6th or the 7th... God prescribed the death sentence for all three of those. I am sure that Moses was quite shocked ( I can not know for sure ) when he sought God as to what penalty should be given the man who gathered sticks in disregard for the day. Moses did not decide for himself... Trust me .. the first half of my Christian life I had no clue how serious God takes keeping a day out of seven unto Him. The more I have studied this issue the more I realize that God is serious about blessing those who keep it "HOLY" I have grown as a Christian much more rapidly having devoted that day to "knowing" Him.. Not just in knowledge but in my whole family life and affections. I lead a very BLESSED LIFE and it was not because I am smarter or more disciplined ( especially disciplined ) I grew up in a broken home and never learned to brush my teeth until I was 10 and had already lost some of them by then. I fed myself whatever I could find in the house mostly bread and peanut butter. I received some "churching" because I was in cubs and scouts at a local church but dropped out in grade 8 and took up with street boys. By the time I was 18 I was a full fledged 'Hippy'. God came and captured me when I was 26 years old. I wanted nothing to do with Him - He did not care because He cared so deeply. I thank God that I OWN HIS LAW.... IT IS MINE: Song of Solomon 6:3 I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies. I have a beautiful wife who fears the Lord and teaches our children about the Bible very well. Everyone says I have the best wife and the best children they've ever seen.. That was gift from God I'm a fool at heart and not wise enough to work these things myself. I also hold to the promise of the tithe.. I have made very foolish "investments" that have turned out to be nothing more than sinful gambles that cost me more than I could afford to lose and yet God has always provided for me in spite of myself. I am not into "prosperity" teaching but I do believe that God is a Father and a Provider who does intend for us to remember and to return thanks in the 10% tithe. I see two laws greatly neglected in our day that are casting the sons of God down... The law of the Tithe and the 4th Commandment. The first Commandment usually to go in the when the church and Christians start to backslide is the 4th.. that will weaken them enough, being separated unto the world and the pleasure of the world, to get them to fall into other sins from there. The thing with Dan started over the observation of the High Roman Popish Mass known as X-Mass to which most professing Christians have fallen to bow to Rome and to esteeming above other days. They forsake God's Sabbath in the Lord's Day and take up with Rome and Paganism every year at the 25th of December. Jesus told us to remember His sacrifice at the Cross by bread and wine but Rome celebrates His Birth. Only 2 gospels mention the birth and there is no Scripture that asked us to remember or celebrate His birth at all. It is not Holy and most men know that Jesus was not even born at that time of year. That is where the difference between Dan and myself began. He attempted to argue that the Sabbath is impossible to keep therefore no man should keep it. === I know that God expects His people to keep the Lord's Day === I can prove it to any man who has the ears to hear and who does not carry on like Dan did. The Sabbath is a Blessing in itself and a means to Blessing from God in Spiritual Meat !! This I know for a certainty... God ordained the Sabbath before the Fall. God calls us to REMEMBER The Sabbath because... In Six days HE made the world and then HE rested HIMSELF He wants us to ACTIVELY REMEMBER the He created us and to Celebrate with Him in worship and praise,prayer and meditation 1 day out of 7. It is the proper tithe of our time. Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Look Hawk-eye at yet another place God calls us to REMEMBER ... Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. The Sabbath was a remembrance of the CREATION WORK of GOD. The Lord's Supper is a remembrance of the SALVATIONAL WORK of JESUS. Christ changed the sabbath day from the last day of the week to the first day as a rememberance of the RE-CREATIONAL WORK of GOD. The first day is the Day Jesus rose from the dead and the day which He returned and appeared to the apostles every time thereafter. Also that is the day the Apostolic church met even as Paul said concerning the tithe being taken in store on the first day of the week rather than the last as was the custom of the Jews before the Resurrection of Jesus. Anyways Dan dug in his heels and that may have been partly my fault for not being patient and being less than longsuffering - none the less he now only believes in 9 of the 10 commandments so I don't know where he can go from here. Breaking the Ten Commandment is against LOVE !!! I can only pray God grant him the humility and wisdom to repent and to honor the Lord's Day the day of Remembrance of the Resurrected hope we have in Christ. Song of Solomon 7:10 I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me. The Sabbath was made FOR Man. It is a Blessing not bondage. It is a day OFF from the cares of this world It is a right to the children of God to be with their God all that day. Why do people who say they love God hate it ???
