I am not sure Scott Zion's description is correct.
The key feature of soliton pulses is that they travel
without deformation. They interact also elastically,
i.e. if two pulses collide they emerge with exactly
the same shapes as before their collision.

Re. Corvis, QTera, Algety, I have no clue as to the
specifics of the solutions proposed-- all details are
usually hush hush. By the way, I thought the optical
communications division of Pirelli (which was bought
recently by CSCO) had also some soliton expertise.
