From what I have seen, most people (myself included) have to eat a sizeable loss to learn the lesson. I dumped several $K in GOTK before I knew what a discount convertible was. Now I know better.

Another important rule is that no single holding should be large enough to wipe out 75% of your capital. Diversification limits your downside, even though you won't make 1000% in one year either.

But most people shouldn't be aiming for 1000% per year anyway. It's pure gambling at that level.

Hi darline, Nice to have another female around here. I've been taking on these boys for too long alone<vbg>

I lost lots and lots in the beginning, actually came real close to total wipeout. Then got smart and dugin and learned. Doing fine now.
