First American Scientific Corp announces KDS successfully
processes sludge in Ireland eliminating coliforms and
pathogens Jump to first matched term

VANCOUVER, Jan. 31 /CNW-PRN/ - First American Scientific Corp OTC - BB (FASC)

First American Scientific Corp (FASC) is pleased to announce the successful completion of its Phase I tests of the KDS processing system for bio-waste (sludge) at its research centre near Belfast, Ireland. The tests confirm that the KDS system will process sludge containing 75% moisture content on a continuous basis and reduce it to a fine talcum like powder. The process eliminates 100% of fecal coliforms, 99.9% of all pathogens, 99.8% of heterotrophic bacteria, and the end product is one quarter its original weight. Further, it has been determined that the end product produced during the process retains a high level of nutrients and nitrogen
and is expected to have commercial value when used in fertilizers.

Ongoing research grants awarded under the ``Radian Award Program' have been extended to cover Phase II research costs which will include design improvements to the feeder pump
system, the venting system, the temperature control and the rotor assembly. The goal is to maximize operating efficiency and increase the volume of throughput. New tests will also
include the processing of animal waste, and other moisture laden pollutants.

Upon the successful completion of the Phase II refinements, the KDS process is expected to provide an environmentally sensitive alternative for the disposal of municipal waste at a cost that is significantly below currently used incineration methods. Savings on transportation costs alone, due to the reduced weight, will make KDS a viable option financially, in addition to becoming a major contributor to the elimination of pollutants which are harmful to the
environment worldwide.
