Now back to the subject of whining about the company. THere's seems to be much speculation on the Yahoo and Silicon threads about IDT turning into a holding company and shedding all it's businesses. If by any chance this did occur it would further lessen my respectability of this company. I see this as pulling at straws and avoiding the real problem which no-one on any thread has wanted to talk about. Their telecom business. Yes there's opportunities and threats there. Mainly their declining margins, inability to capture the corporate market, and rising proportion of wholesale business. Nevertheless, it is still a profitable business which should pose no problem should IDT wish to leverage some debt to either invest in expanding the business where it needs to or acquiring another company. For me the telecomms business is why I first invested in IDT over 2 years ago and I'm somewhat dissappointed in their loss of focus on this part. Yes it's grown two fold but for every dollar gained they've spent another, and at no future indication of a trend reversal. In myu mind, if the holding company scenario should ever eventuate, depending on the capital structure and management, I would probably take my money out of IDT holding and put it into IDT telecomms. Whatever happens I starting to see that it's sounds investment strategy to put your money where Howard isn't. Note NTOP as a fine example of this.
