Barry,

I too got royally annoyed with Waterhouse about a week and a half ago.
Thursday morning after the Wednesday night LU warning to be precise.

Not only couldn't I get option quotes through WebBroker, but I couldn't get connected to a trader before the communications sector started its recovery. So I just gave up, extremely annoyed.

I checked out both etrade Canada and Charles Schwab. My attempt to open an account with Etrade was a farce. The reception sent me over to an IVR system where I stayed on hold for 25 minutes before hanging up. Imagine the service one would get after they already had your assets if that's what they do to prospective customers.

found out their rates from their web sites and calculated my excess options commissions for 1999. got back to TD who has made me a happy customer again.

Still annoyed that I couldn't place the trades I wanted when I wanted. But adequately compensated for my troubles.

Every broker is seeing incredible increases in volume. Quote providers are unable to cope with the load. The grass may be less green on the other side of the fence.

FWIW,
Ian.
