From what I can see a lot of institutions have been dumping blocks since late December. As I am fortunate to have a Bloomberg terminal in my office, I can pull up CMGI and hit GM and enter B for block activity - this brings up a line chart of block activity (20,000 and above) and coinciding stock price. So when you do this, you have a block line sloping way down in the past month or so and the stock price line chart right next to it. Based on what I see, I am surprised that the price has held up so well based on the institutional activity. If anyone doesn't believe me, call your friends in the financial community and ask them to do this at their Bloomberg terminals and ask what what they see.

As always, I see no fundamental change in the story and am staying long for a long time

Yes I agree this is not the 2000 I was hoping to see. So far this year really sucks and seems to be getting worse by the day. The constant spike in the long bond and the acceleration in price of crude oil is screwing this market up big time and is especially bad for the techs.Double Click just çame out with bad earnings and I hope this will not mean deep shit for us tomorrow. CMGI has been falling badly ever since that stupid merger with Time Warner. Does AOL hate Microsoft that much that they screw their own shareholders by merging with Time Warner??

Jarhead,
I think this behavior right now is classic CMGI. This thing always test ones resolve in both extremes. For a pure long, the joy ones feel in an upturn is equally disheartening in a downturn. That's why I have been hinting here to hedge your bet thru options, hoping to reduce the pain in this kind of market. I know the pros and the semi ones have been hedging their bets, but I'm concerned of the new buyers that were swift with the rosy CMGI story. Remember that fundamentals is only part of the equation, other factors are Day traders, shorters, MM's, Options Players, Fundies, and the list goes on and on; all want to get one's money. So be careful out there, one's ability to make profit in a downturn separates the boys from the Big boys in the Stock Market. If you can survive this one, you'll be better next time around. All are JMO, and regards!
