The new Crusoe chip mystery...
It is supposed to be announced tomorrow on Jan 19...
Today's newspaper ran a story about the new Crusoe chip and that Intel and AMD had better be concerned...
I am wondering too...wondering who is in this "venture"

Here is something from October of last year..posted on SI...:

Oak Investment Partners and Vulcan Ventures Inc. have provided RioPort with operating capital to
further build and proliferate its integrated digital audio platform for the delivery, management and
playback of music and spoken audio content. RioPort will utilize the funds to invest in Internet and
content aggregation activities, application software development and design services. S3 and
Diamond Multimedia have funded the company since its inception.

Just speculating here.....out of pure ignorance.....but would it not be terrific if S3 was going to spend some of its money on this Crusoe thing that has taken five years to develop?.....5 years and not a hint of what it is or who owns it or ANYTHING?.... Paul Allen and others are in on the Crusoe chip. Paul Allen and others (Oak Investment Partners??) are "in on" this new Crusoe thing. It would be nice if S3 was developing or manufacturing the Crusoe thingy. <VBG>
