a 'hidden supply'? as far as i know the amount of gold that has been mined so far throughout history is a known quantity...something like 35.000 tons. every year about 2500 additional tons are mined currently. that compares to the U.S. money supply increasing by 130 billion dollars in the last quarter of '99 alone. (all figures are approximations)
i agree it is more cumbersome than paper.
let's just say a commodity that has just gone through a 20 year bear market appeals to the contrarian in me...especially when i see a credit and asset bubble of heretofore unknown proportions sweeping the globe.
