"If IDC has surplus engineers just waiting to help out NOK, I don't think is a net positive for IDC. To try to characterize it as such just doesn't stand up to the rationality test."

me thinks you assume to much. who said IDC has 'surplus engineers?' this is a false assumption derived from a false premise that IDC's involvement with NOK is coincidental and not product specific. look again.

Bux, I don't feel Nokia went to IDC because they had a lot of engineers sitting around. The news release regarding the relationship stated IDC was to provide building blocks for Nokia for 3-G. With all the knowledge Qualcomm has of CDMA don't you think it's a little odd that Nokia went to IDC for help than Qualcomm ?
