NOBLE CHINA CORP ("NMO-T;NCNAF-L") - To Receive $10.4 Million Dividend From Zhaoqing Noble - Brewery Noble China Inc. announced that its operating subsidiary, Zhaoqing Noble Brewery, has declared a dividend to be paid out of its 1999 net profit. Noble's share of the dividend, 61.2 RMB (approximately $ 10.4 million Canadian), will be paid in instalments over the course of this year. John Pennal, President and CEO of Noble, said the dividend reflects the outstanding performance of the Zhaoqing Noble Brewery in 1999. "The Brewery continues to improve operating efficiencies and has solidly maintained its position as one of the most profitable breweries in China," Mr. Pennal said. He noted that the Brewery's pre-tax earnings had increased significantly over last year while net earnings remained approximately the same in spite of a tax rate that more than doubled following the expiration of the joint venture's tax holiday at the end of 1998. Noble China Inc. holds a 60% interest in the Zhaoqing Noble Brewery which has a nonexclusive license to manufacture Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in Guandong Province. Noble has been awarded a 30-year exclusive license to brew and distribute Pabst Blue Ribbon throughout China, commencing November, 2003.
