Advantex adds 4,500 U.S. Restaurants to CIBC Aerogold Program Through
Agreement with Transmedia

ADX: TSE

TORONTO, Jan. 19 /CNW-PRN/ - Advantex Marketing International Inc. (TSE:ADX - news) announced an agreement today with Transmedia Network Inc. that
will provide CIBC Aerogold cardholders with TRIPLE Aeroplan Mile awards when dining at any one of 4,500 participating restaurants in over 35 cities in the
United States. The Transmedia agreement is the first step in expanding the CIBC Aerogold ADVANTEX Benefit program beyond Canadian borders, increasing
tenfold the number of opportunities for Aerogold cardholders to earn bonus Aeroplan Miles.

''This strategic alliance is a 'win-win' proposition for both Advantex and Transmedia. Advantex effectively expands its business throughout the United States, without
incurring incremental sales and operating costs. Advantex will earn income on all CIBC Aerogold transactions at the over 4,500 participating establishments
throughout the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii. Similarly, for Transmedia, this agreement adds more than 500,000 International diners to its program,''
stated G. Randall Munger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Advantex Marketing International Inc.

''CIBC Aerogold cardholders are frequent travelers and, as such, are an important International market segment for our participating restaurants,'' said Gene
Henderson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Transmedia Network Inc. ''We are very pleased to work with Advantex on the CIBC Aerogold ADVANTEX
program as it effectively reaches CIBC Aerogold cardholders, and gives them a strong incentive to visit our participating restaurants when traveling to the United
States.''

''The addition of 4,500 restaurants in the United States is on strategy, continuing the program's expansion into new markets and new venues,'' said Cheryl Longo,
Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, CIBC Card Products Division.

Marc Trudeau, Senior Director, Customer Loyalty and Product Management, Air Canada, adds, ''This exciting expansion of the CIBC Aerogold ADVANTEX
program complements Air Canada's network to the U.S., and is in keeping with the significant increase in traffic between both countries in the past few years. Air
Canada is pleased to align itself with quality partners such as Advantex and CIBC to provide more earning opportunities to Aeroplan members.''

Advantex owns and operates the successful CIBC Aerogold ADVANTEX program, a fully integrated feature of the CIBC Aerogold VISA credit card. CIBC
Aerogold cardholders automatically earn DOUBLE or TRIPLE Aeroplan Mile awards through the CIBC Aerogold ADVANTEX program when making purchases
at a national network of over 450 participating restaurants, golf courses, country inns and specialty resorts in Canada.

Transmedia Network Inc. is a leader in the United States, in the development and marketing of transaction-based dining and other consumer savings programs.

Under the terms of the agreement, Transmedia will be responsible for managing the U.S. merchant network. Advantex will be responsible for promotion and
marketing of U.S. restaurants to CIBC Aerogold cardholders and the issuance of bonus Aeroplan Mile awards. Promotion will include program guides inserted in
monthly credit card statements, The Advantex Review, a full-colour glossy magazine, and through the Internet. The program is expected to launch April 1, 2000.

In 1999, Advantex announced plans to build a CIBC Aerogold shopping portal, the first of the Company's new Internet loyalty marketing initiatives. CIBC Aerogold
cardholders will soon earn bonus Aeroplan Miles on their online purchases when linking through the CIBC Aerogold ADVANTEX shopping portal to shop at
participating leading e-retailers. The Portal is on track to launch in Spring 2000.

''Advantex continues to aggressively pursue a strategy of forming strategic alliances with key players in global markets to provide significant revenue growth at
minimal cost,'' stated Munger.
